April 11th – 14th

Dear DG Families,

Vaisakhi is soon!  Vaisakhi is celebrated on the first day of Vaisakh month throughout the Punjab region of northern India. In many ways, Vaisakhi is like a Thanksgiving celebration. We will be celebrating Vaisakhi as a school on Thursday, April 13th, with an assembly in the morning. Students are encouraged to wear their Indian outfits or something colourful!  Thank you to Ms Arjun and Ms Chan for organizing the festivities at our school.

Grade 7 Year End Fundraising Events

Dear Devon Gardens Parents and Guardians,

To help support end-of-year activities for the graduating grade 7 students of Devon Gardens Elementary, two fundraising events have been planned for April and May.

  1. Bottle Drive Fundraiser – Saturday, April 22 from 10am to 2pm. We are looking for volunteer help for this event. If you are able to support with your time, please sign up here  – Volunteer Sign-up Sheet
  1. Growing Smiles Plant Fundraiser – For details on items and prices, please visit Devon Gardens Elementary (growingsmilesfundraising.com). Ordering closes Thursday, May 4 (midnight) and order pick-up will be at the school (lower parking lot) on Thursday, May 18 at 4:00pm. Orders can be placed and paid for through the link provided.

All proceeds from these events will go towards funding various end-of-year activities for the graduating grade 7 students. We encourage all parents to get involved and support these events in whatever way you can. Whether it’s by donating your bottles, purchasing plants, or volunteering your time to help with the events, every little bit helps. Let’s work together to make these fundraising events a success for our graduating grade 7 students.

Thank you in advance for your support,

Grade 7 Fundraising Committee Parents

After 4 long years, Family Fun Night is BACK!! As there are a lot of new families in the school since our last celebration, we thought it best to provide some background:

Family Fun Night is scheduled for 5-8 PM on June 15th, 2023 and is an event the PAC puts on annually and is the largest fundraiser we do.

This is a celebration of our community so everyone is welcome (you don’t have to be part of the DG Community to attend)

There will be a lot of fun activities including: bouncy castles, basket raffles and the much loved cake walk as well as a concession.  The concession serves a variety of hot foods and drinks.

There is no entrance fee however, you need an arm bracelet to have unlimited access to the bouncy castles.  Tickets for the cake walk and basket raffles will also be available to purchase. Prices will be posted in advance.  This is a cash only event.

This is a great event for our school and a great way to celebrate another fantastic year at Devon Gardens.

Leading up to the event there are lots of ways for the school community to get involved so stay tuned……….

Fruit and Veggie Helpers Needed for Next Year

The PAC is also looking for volunteers for the Fruit and Veggie program next year, as the current parent coordinator has a student in grade 7, so will not be with us next year.   In order to continue this program, new volunteers will be needed.  Through the Fruit and Veggie program, students receive  fresh BC fruits and vegetables, washed and ready to enjoy, approximately twice a month.  Parent volunteers are needed to receive and sort the produce to be delivered to each classroom.  If this is something you are interested in assisting with, please contact email pacdevongardens@gmail.com
