Dragon’s Breath Dec 17 – 21

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The countdown is on to Christmas Break. There are a few things that we could really use your help with.

As you know, we are again working with another school in Delta to provide families in need with some Christmas hampers this year.

Our sister school will provide hampers for our families and in turn we are collecting items to help their families. We do this in the spirit of trying to keep things private and confidential for the families who are in need. Please have a look at the descriptions of the two families below and please consider bringing in donations to help with our hamper efforts. We would like to get the hampers to them by the middle of this week.

Family #1

  • Dad  & Mom
  • Boy aged 13
  • Girl aged 11
  • Girl aged 4

13 year old boy loves art –  he wants to be a cartoon animator so he can share his stories & drawings or gift card. Size 12 clothes & size 3 shoes

Girl age 12 loves big teddy bears & pillows. Playing with board games with family. Making cardboard dollhouses & furniture for herself & little sister’s “LOL dolls”  to play with. Size 10 clothes & PJs & size 1 or 2 youth/adult shoe & boot.

Girl aged 4 loves clay,  “LOL doll” sized dolls, playing store & anything soft & cozy. Size 4 clothes & pjs & size 9 toddler shoe & boots.

Mom and dad like being with their kids & doing any fun activity at home (mom recently had some health concerns so does not go out much). They would appreciate any gift cards to go towards making their house into more of a home! (they recently moved from across the country to Delta leaving much of their stuff behind). They really appreciate they community thinking about them and helping them in this way.

FAMILY # 2

Boy age 7: Size 1 shoes, 8-9 size clothes (prefers blues and greens). Enjoys reading, writing and creating things

A reminder that there is a slight adjustment to the start time of the afternoon concert on Tuesday Dec 18. The new start time will now be 1:30pm. Doors will open for the audience at 1:00pm.

The evening show will still be at 7:00pm. Doors will open at 6:30. As you know, tickets have already been sent home for the evening show. Since tickets are limited to two per family in the evening, families are encouraged to consider the afternoon show as an alternative.

Please note that in order to make our concerts a success we need your children to be in attendance and perform for both shows.

Our book fair is next week in the library. Please note the following times.

  • Monday 3:00 – 3:30
  • Tuesday 8:15-8:45 and 3:00- 3:30
  • Wednesday at recess
  • Thursday 8: 15 – 8:45 & recess

As a treat to the school, the kids will have a chance to see “Arthur Christmas” during part of the day on Thursday. The movie is rated G. For more information about the movie, please see the common sense media review below.

If you do not want your child to see the movie please email both you child’s teacher and myself so that we can make alternative arrangements.

Devon Gardens Winter pancake breakfast!

To celebrate the upcoming Winter holidays, the Devon Gardens PAC is hosting a pancake breakfast on Thursday, December 20. Students, parents, and family are invited to warm up with some yummy pancakes and enjoy some time with friends before the students head off to class.
Pancakes will be served in the gym 8:00 – 8:45am on Thursday, December 20. Admission is by donation – all proceeds will benefit Deltassist.
We may also have a visit from a very jolly guest, so be sure to come in time to eat and have a chat. Parents, don’t forget to bring a camera for a photo.

To ensure our event runs smoothly, we also need volunteers for set-up, food prep/serving, and clean-up. Please email me@jessicajensen.ca if you’re able to help.
We look forward to seeing you there!
