Dragon’s Breath May 22- 25

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Congratulations to all our students who made it to our District Track Meet. Thank you to all the teachers, staff and parents who made this year’s track and field season the success that it was.

Message from the Devon Gardens PAC

As we near the end of another school year, we’d like to provide an update on our fundraising efforts and next major project. So far this school year, thanks to Entertainment Book sales, food sales, and 50/50 raffles, and more, we have raised over $9200. Our remaining fundraiser, Family Fun Night, is expected to raise an additional $2000. This year we have provided funds for:

– Digital Guise show

– Hip Hop lessons

– Tap dance show

– Classroom funds for each teacher, including resource teachers

– New books for the library

– New equipment for the crossing guards

– Two annual scholarships to a former Devon Gardens student now graduating from Delview or Burnsview

– The annual grade 7 graduation celebration

– The annual end-of-year teacher luncheon

As previously shared in the DG newsletter, our next major project will be an update to the school library. This project will be delivered in phases, with the first phase starting this summer.

Phase one:  complete repainting, new seating area, new carpet, new bookshelves, and a fun (and large!) painted mural

Phase two:  STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) stations and technology upgrades

Thanks to our fundraising efforts over the last two years, we have raised enough money to fully fund the first phase of our project and partially fund the second phase. Our fundraising activities next year will provide the remaining funds.

Thank you to students, parents, teachers, and staff for supporting our fundraisers each year. Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to fund these important and fun initiatives for our school.

Don’t forget: donations for raffle baskets, cakes for the cake walk, and of course, your attendance at Family Fun Night will help ensure we meet our fundraising goals. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our Family Fun Night on June 14 – see you there!

Our Grade 7s will be having a bottle drive on Sunday, June 3rd from 11am to 1pm (in our lower parking lot). Please save your returnable cans and bottles and consider donating them to our Grade 7s. All proceeds will go towards Grade 7 Year End Celebrations.

For more information, please contact Marnie Ghag at marnieghag@gmail.com
