We have such an amazing school community at Devon Gardens, and as we close out the school year, I want to extend a heartfelt thank all to all of our staff, students, and families for the support, cooperation and partnership throughout this school year. Working together and the positive relationships we’ve built makes our school a GREAT place to be!
And, speaking of AMAZING ….
The PAC raised $5132.87 at this year’s Family Fun Night!
Way to go, DG PAC! And thank you, families, for all of your support and contributions.
Team Tug-of-War Tuesday Afternoon
We had some rain on Sports Day which meant we needed to postpone the Team Tug-of-War, scheduled for the afternoon. Wet grass makes for a slippery tug-of-war (and that’s no fun!). The rescheduled Tug-of-War will be this Tuesday afternoon – June 27th
Our tug-of-war rope (a PAC supported purchase a couple of years ago!) is a 4-way tug-of-war rope, meaning the 4 Sports Day colour groups compete against one another at the same time. There are 4 ropes, connected in the middle: one rope for each of the Sports Day colour teams (red, blue, yellow and green). Each team positions themselves along “their” rope. When the signal is given, all 4 teams pull at the same time. The team that pulls their rope across the designated spot first, is declared the winner.
Students should dress in theirTeam Colour from Sports Day (yellow, red, blue or green). On Monday, teachers will be reminding students who may have forgotten what colour team they were on. If you have questions about your child’s team colour, please check with the classroom teacher.
The tug-of-war “pulls” will be organized by grade (Kindergarten pulls against Kindergarten, etc….).
See example photo, below (not quite the same as ours, but you get the idea):
We’re going to get started just after 1:00pm and parents/guardians are welcome to come and cheer on all the teams! If you’re joining us, please meet us on the back field shortly after 1:00pm (please don’t come too much earlier than that, as kids will still be out lunch recess)
Student Crossing Guards Still Needed this Week:
Thank you for your continued support of the crossing guard program at Devon Gardens. This important leadership role helps keep the students safe.
We still need our Crossing Guards on duty this week, to ensure everyone gets to and from school safely.
If your child cannot make their shift, please encourage them to find their own replacements and to let Ms. Grund know. All Crossing Guards have been provided the schedule.
Updated Crossing Guard Schedule
Year Books
On Friday, yearbooks were sent home with students who had ordered them. We have a very limited number of extra yearbooks, available for purchase, at the office. If you would like to purchase one, they are $21. First come, first served. We cannot hold yearbooks as there are only a small number of extras.
Lost and Found
There are quite a few items in our lost and found. Please encourage your child to come and take a look for any items belonging to them (and/or come on by, yourselves, after school). There are only a few days left to reclaim any lost items. Ms Grund will be dropping off any unclaimed items to a donation centre by the end of the week. Please contact Ms Grund if you have any questions.
Thursday, June 29th is the last day of school for students. Dismissal is at 10:15, and to help celebrate the end of the school year and get your summer started with a sweet treat, our amazing PAC will be setting up a concession in the undercover area.

June 30th – Admin Day
The last day for staff is Friday, June 30th. The school office will be closed at 4:00 pm on June 30th and will reopen at 8:30 am on August 28th.`
Staff Farewells
At the end of every school year, we would like to thank the following staff who will be moving on. This list may change between now and the fall, however, we would like to share with all of you the staff we know are leaving at this time.
Please help us in thanking and saying a fond farewell to the following staff members; we wish them all the best as they transition into new positions at other schools:
Mr. Dibbley, Band Teacher
