Dear DG Families,

We want to take this time to wish all of you a wonderful spring break.  Spring break will be from Monday, March 13 until Friday, March 24.  Schools will reopen on Monday, March 27th and we look forward to welcoming students back to school at that time.

Thank you for supporting the Book Fair!  Ms Goldman had a great turn out last week.

Lost and Found

Please remind your children to take a look in the lost and found this week.  Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of the week.

 

Term 2 Report Cards

Term 2 Report Cards will be available for viewing on Parent Connect on Wednesday.  An email will be sent to parents once they have been uploaded.  If you require a paper copy of your child’s report card, please let your child’s teacher know by Tuesday.

Semaine de la Francophonie

Semaine de la Francophonie (Francophone week) is a yearly event, celebrated during the month of March around the world. It’s an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the French language in all its diversity.  Throughout Semaine de la Francophonie at Devon Gardens, French Immersion classes will participate in a variety of activities celebrating French culture around the world.  Un gros MERCI to our French Immersion Teachers who have done a great deal of planning and preparation to put these activities together!  In addition, French songs from around the world will be shared with the whole school each morning on the announcements.

If you know you are going to be away for an extended period because of a planned vacation, please encourage your child to find their own replacements and to let Ms. Grund know.   All Crossing Guards have been provided the schedule.

Return-it Express

PAC has created a school fundraising account. To participate, simply bring your containers to the depot in sealed, clear bags, and enter the registered phone number, 604-581-6185, into the Express kiosk. You will be prompted to select the number of bags you’re dropping off, the kiosk will automatically print the same number of sticker tags displaying our PACs unique Express account code. Tag each of your bags with a sticker tag and drop the bags off in the designated Express drop-off area to be counted. Spring Break Film Academy Bootcamp- Students Gr 6-9

Join Delta Film Academies Instructors for a 5-day production bootcamp designed specifically for grade 6 to 9 students. Filmkids will learn about camera techniques, lighting,  directing, acting in and shooting scenes from a script they helped create! After a week of hard work and learning, students will watch their completed film!

There is huge potential for misuse of the internet, for example, sending or receiving inappropriate information and images (e.g. racist, slanderous, pornographic, threatening, sexist, confidential, etc.) or using chat rooms for this purpose.

We know helping kids stay safe while online is something many parents/guardians are concerned about. We encourage you to review the following resources for more information on the online interests of young people, the potential risks they face and proactive strategies to help keep them safe:

eraseis offering online interactive sessions focused on exploring consent and gender-based violence, with school-day sessions for students in Grades 8-12, and evening sessions suited for students in Grade 8 and above and their families.
