Dear DG Families,
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends. With the second month of school well underway, there’s lots going on at school. Please read on for this week’s information …
New Morning Line-up Spots
Starting this week (Tuesday, Oct. 11), classes will be lining up in new spots (please check out the map for your child’s division). Students have practised their new line up spots so they know where to go, and we will have the division cones set out on Tuesday morning as a reminder.
As the intermediate classes will be moving from the field down to the courtyard, there will be a lot more students lining up there. Therefore, we respectfully ask parents to please keep the area clear once they’ve dropped off their child in the mornings, to avoid crowding.
In addition, since more classes will be lining up in the undercover area, we ask that parents please stand towards the outside of the covered area during the morning drop-off, so that students are able to line up and be ready for when the teachers come out to bring them inside.
Please note, that this map refers to morning drop off only. Students’ end of day exit/pick up locations have not changed.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent teacher conferences are happening this Wednesday (October 12th) and Thursday (October 13th). Parent Teacher Conferences are an important opportunity for parents/guardians to have a one to one conversation with the teacher about their child’s progress and we encourage all parents to book an appointment.
The on-line booking through parent connect has now closed, so if you are still needing to book an appointment please email your child’s teacher directly.
We know families are busy, so in order to accommodate as many parents as possible we are offering in-person conferences on Wednesday and virtual conferences, via MS Teams, on Thursday. If you would prefer a phone appointment, that can also be arranged by contacting your child’s teacher.
For those of you who have signed up for a virtual conference, below is a link for a helpful guide for parents when using MS Teams. We suggest that you read through this prior to conferences, and keep it handy for easy reference for your scheduled appointment.
P_T TEAMS conference guide for parents
To accommodate parent teacher conferences, students will be dismissed 1 hour earlier on both Wednesday, October 12th (dismissal at noon) and Thursday, October 13th (dismissal at 2:00 p.m.).
Please make a note of this in your calendars and advise daycare providers or other family members who pick up your child from school.
The Book Fair This Week!
Our Librarian, Mrs. Goldman, has arranged to have a Scholastic Book Fair at Devon Gardens the week of October 11th. Students will have the opportunity to purchase books during their library time as well as after school.
- Tuesday October 11 3:00pm – 4:30pm
- Wednesday October 12 12:00pm – 3:00pm
- Thursday October 13 2:00pm – 5:00pm
Please Be Considerate When Parking
We’ve received several complaints, lately, about cars double parking in the Parent/Visitor parking lot and blocking the entrance/exit to the parking lot. When parking at school, please do so safely and legally, and in a way that is considerate of others.
Crossing Guard Schedule
A huge thank you to our student crossing guards! We are sharing the crossing guard schedule with parents as we know that prior arrangements need to be made at home to ensure that your child can come to school earlier or stay a little bit later after school. Thank you to our crossing guard monitors for helping us! Ms Grund is in charge of our Student Crossing Guard program, so please contact her with any questions.
Here is the crossing guard schedule so far: Schedules – Crossing Guard
