Dear DG Families,
Have you logged onto Parent Connect?
Most students now have their online forms completed (great job, DG!). If you haven’t done them yet, please do so asap. Also, in Parent Connect, please double check the contact information we have on file for your child (home and cell phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts, etc…). If any changes are needed, please contact the school by phone 604-581-6185, or email the school’s general mailbox at devongardens.elem@deltaschools.ca
Dressing for the weather
Although we’ve only had a few rainy days so far, we know more are coming! As the weather gets cold and wet, please make sure that kids come dressed appropriately for the outdoors in all sorts of weather (eg. jacket, waterproof/water resistant footwear, hat, gloves, etc…) . Please expect that kids will go out for recess and lunch, unless there is extreme weather.
VERY IMPORTANT – all students (even Grade 7s!) are required to have a spare change of clothes (socks, pants, T-shirt) at school. Spare clothing should be in a ziplock bag, labelled with your child’s name
Crowding in the line-up areas
It’s quite crowded in the line-up areas in the morning, especially in the undercover area. This can be quite overwhelming for some children. Parents/guardians, please help us with this by not lining up with your children. Parents/guardians, strollers, younger siblings, etc… are asked to please stay to the outside edges to create more space for students to get to their line-up spots.
Emergency Preparedness Fee
As previously communicated from the District to families in the spring (view the letter here: https://district.public.deltasd.bc.ca/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/05/Emergency-Preparedness-Letter-May-2024.pdf ), the district is introducing a new annual Emergency Preparedness Fee of $10 per student. This is to cover the maintenance and replenishment of emergency provisions, including food, water and first aid items, to help care for students in case of a large-scale incident such as an earthquake. Families will be asked to pay this $10/student fee by sending cash or a cheque (made payable to the school) to the school office by the end of October. If your family requires financial support in relation to this fee, please contact the school office. Discretion will be maintained. Please watch for a letter, coming home, this week, with more information.

Kinder Books
Introducing the Kinder Books Loyalty Program for schools! This year-long fundraising program is designed to help schools earn credit towards purchasing books for their school library.
Here’s how it works: for every net book purchase made at Kinder Books, the school will earn 10% of the purchase amount towards a credit at our store. At the end of the fundraiser, we will notify the school of their credit amount. The school can then decide to use the credit at the beginning of the new school year or at the end of the calendar year.
The best part? This program applies to all book purchases at our store, including special orders for kids and books for adults. Plus, orders can be placed online at www.kinderbooks.ca, making it easy for grandparents or other family members who live out of town to participate. Simply mention your school’s name at checkout, and we’ll credit your school accordingly.
Online orders can be picked up at the store during business hours or shipped through Canada Post
