Please watch for more information, coming soon, about how to sign up for your child’s conference (via Parent Connect)

Regular attendance is fundamental to success at school.   Occasionally, students must miss classes for unavoidable reasons such as illness or emergencies. Student absences must be reported directly to the office, rather than through your child’s teacher.   As such, if your child will be absent from school, please remember to either call our office at 604-581-6185, or email the school’s general mailbox at devongardens.elem@deltaschools.ca , to let us know.  In your message, please also let us know the reason of your child’s absence.  If your child is away due to illness, please also let us know your child’s symptoms; particularly in the case of communicable diseases such as respiratory infections, strep throat, chickenpox, stomach flu, etc…

It is recommended that medical, dental and other appointments be made outside of school time, however we understand this is not always possible.  If you child needs to leave school early for an appointment on a particular day, please communicate this information to the teacher ahead of time (eg. send a note to the teacher in your child’s planner).  This way we can have your child ready and waiting for you at the office, where they will be signed out.   When returning from the appointment students must sign in at the office.

Terry Fox Run

Devon Gardens will be participating in the annual Terry Fox Run again this year!  Our run date is Wednesday, September 28th! Please have your child wear running shoes and clothes that allow for easy movement on this day. We also encourage students who want to, to bring in a “Toonie for Terry” which will go toward cancer research. Thank you for your support!

Thursday, September 29th the Delta School District will be observing Orange Shirt Day.  Staff and students are encouraged to wear orange in remembrance and respect to the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada

Between the 1860s and the 1990s, approximately 150,000 Métis, Inuit and First Nations children were sent to  church-run schools residential schools.  Residential schools harmed Indigenous children by removing them from their families, forcing them to speak English or French instead of their ancestral languages, disconnecting them from their culture and traditions and forcing them to adopt Christianity in order to assimilate into Canadian society.  Learn more about the origins of Orange Shirt Day:
