Dear DG Families,
Thank you to all our students who came dressed up in their Halloween costumes on Friday.
Updated Health Check Form
Please find on our website and the link provided the updated Health Check form. With travel resuming for some families, please note the following information:
“Students, staff and other adults who are not fully vaccinated and have travelled outside of Canada CANNOT attend school for 14 days after arrival, as part of federal requirements.”

When you are dropping off or picking up students, please ensure that you are leaving enough space between yourself and others. This is particularly important in the undercover area where space is more limited. For this reason, please do not stand with your child in their line-up. As well, parents and guardians are encouraged to please wear a mask when on the school grounds as most of our students have not yet had the opportunity to get vaccinated against COVID. We thank you for doing your part to help keep everyone safe.
Pyjama Day Monday, November 1st
As we know Halloween falls on Sunday this year, many of our students may be coming to school tired today. Therefore, Monday will be pyjama day at our school! As we know some students do not like to dress up, so participation is optional. PJs or not, please ensure your child is safely dressed for the weather – including going outside at recess and lunch – and, for safety reasons, proper footwear is required so slippers are not permitted at school.
Happy Diwali
A very happy Diwali to our families that celebrate Diwali on November 4th.
Emergency Preparedness
Thank you to those families who have already returned the $5/student donation towards our Emergency Preparedness plan. These funds will be used to top up our existing Emergency Prep supplies and to purchase other, much needed, items. Some of these include first aid kits for every division, towels and extra clothing, glow sticks and lanterns, and more. We are also aiming to put together activity bins (eg. books, puzzles, games, etc…) to help keep students occupied in the event of an earthquake or other emergency. In such a situation, students may have to wait several hours (or longer) until they can be picked up by a parent/guardian or designated emergency release adult. The $5/child contributions are essential in helping us acquire these much needed supplies.
If you haven’t yet contributed, and would still like to, donations can be submitted to your youngest child’s teacher or directly to the office.
Delta Vision 2030
In April 2021, the Delta School District embarked on an exciting journey to develop its vision for the next decade.
An Advisory Committee comprised of representatives from our staff, students, education partners (CUPE 1091, Delta Teachers’ Association and Delta District Parent Advisory Council, and Delta Principals and Vice Principals Association), the Delta Board of Education and local First Nation Peoples – Musqueam and Tsawwassen First Nations – guided this visioning process.
Through a variety of conversations and activities including Zoom calls, online surveys, whiteboard spaces and photo murals, we engaged with our key stakeholders and asked them to share their wishes and desires for the future direction of the school district. In total, the voices of almost 3,000 individuals were heard between April to June 2021, including staff from all schools and district sites. Over the summer, this data was analyzed to identify key themes. In recent weeks, the collective feedback, wisdom and of these individuals has been captured by a graphic artist to create Vision 2030.
We look forward to Vision 2030 being our guiding North Star for the next decade we support Delta’s students present and future.

Musqueam First Nations Day
Monday, November 1 is an important day for the Musqueam First Nation. November 1 represents the day in which Musqueam changed the history of Indigenous rights and title for all Indigenous Nations in Canada – the Crown must now recognize Indigenous title to Indigenous land. On November 1, 1984 Musqueam won a landmark case with the Supreme Court of Canada called the Guerin Case. This day has since been celebrated as Musqueam Day.
