Week at a Glance Oct 26-30

Dear DG Families,

Halloween Colours for PE

Students are encouraged to wear Halloween colours/Fall colours for gym this Monday and Tuesday (depending on when your child has gym).  Ms. Leveque has been working with all of our students teaching them a Halloween dance.

Halloween Costumes

This year, we will not be able to do a Halloween parade as in previous years where students go into all classrooms around the school to show their costumes.  We also realize that this year, there will be some families who will not be partaking in Halloween events.

Halloween Costume Guidelines On Friday, October 30th, students (who want to) are welcome to come to school dressed in their Halloween Costume. Students will have a chance to share with their classroom friends what they are wearing.  Students will want to bring an extra set of clothes to change into prior to recess.   Please be reminded that costumes:

  • should not be too scary
  • should be age appropriate
  • that promote illegal activities, drugs/alcohol, or could be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype of someone’s culture, gender, heritage, or religion are not ok for school
  • must be safe & comfortable.  Students must be able to sit, walk, breathe, see and hear.  Anything that limits vision or restricts movement can lead to falling & other injuries. That’s no fun on Halloween!
  • must be in line with our dress guidelines (students are sufficiently covered and dressed for the weather)

Also:

  • toy weapons should be kept at home
  • not all students like to dress up (and that’s ok, too!)

Students will be given the opportunity and are encouraged to change out of their costumes prior to recess. This will ensure that costumes are kept safe and intact for trick or treating on Saturday.

Sharing our Halloween Activities

Please look for an email sent from the school on Friday, October 30th.  We will be sharing with all of you some of the Halloween activities that have been happening at the school during the week.
